HR Department Lunch

To celebrate all remaing birthdays of employees within Human Resources department, a lunch after work was organised. As like anywhere in the world, its great to socialise outside the office with your work colleagues and here is no different.

The Human Resources Program is made up of departments from Employee Relations, Recruitment, Immigration and Workforce Planning & Scheduling. I am thoroughly enjoying working within the HR department as it is the only department that is predominately employees from Qatar or Middle Eastern backgrounds. I enjoy the daily experience of working in such an environment, always starting my day with 'Saba helkhiir'(Good morning) or 'Ás salamu alaikum (Hello). The department of Workforce Planning and Scheduling (HRW) is the only department within HR with employees from Greece, South Africa and Australia - hence the most noisest and on this note - the Greeks are so much MORE noiser than the Australians!

The clothing worn by both male and females is the Qatari tradional clothing. This is worn in both work and outide of work. Any emloyees that are not Qatari but are muslim have their arms, legs and head covered. Us westerners have to ensure that we respect the culture and also wear appropriate clothing that covers your shoulders, chest and knees. I find this no problem in the workplace - as you will see in the photos, the wrap is definetly my savour (I have them in all shapes and colours)). However, where I do find it difficult is constantly ensuring I am covered when I simply go to the local shops, video shop or gym, these simple activities still require you to be covered.
Now, I would like to introduce you to my work colleagues..

Left to right: Eva (WKF), Rashed (Employee Relations/Immigration), ME!, Sultan (HR Director) and Hassan (HR Manager).

Left to right: My friend Rashed and I. Rashed is a lovely man, has spent a number of years living and traveling in England and America. He is a more open and relaxed Qatari man.

Left to right: Etab (Recruitment), Noora (Assistant to Hassan), Hassan, Lisa (EA to HR Director)

Etab is a lively, young Eygptian girl. She is so funny and quite rad. She covers though is funny as sometimes her tops says things like ''party girl'. Noora is also great Qatari girl. I socialise with Noora often outside of work, enjoying manicures, chats etc.

Left to right: Caroline (HRW - Aus), Friedrich (HRW - SA) & Theo (HRW- Greek and my boss)

Left to right: The lovely Rashed and I again. We talked for so long, the waiters thought we werent eating our lunch from our plate. (Me chat ?- I know its very unbelievable!)

Left to right: Sultan and Hassan. Sultan is such a geniune lovely man who always asks me how my Arabic speaking is going... (There are not many Directors in DAGOC that work closely with their departments or for that matter speak to their staff)

The lovely and ever smiling Ehsan and her daughter (?). Ehsan since day one has been friendly and chatty. Actually when I first started the conversation was how much she loved my short hair. Ehsan is from Egypt and for this she covers her skin and hair in the workplace.
